Junior Police Academy

The New Milford Police Department has announced the formation of the 2012 Junior Police Academy to be held June 25-29.The purpose of the academy is to build a positive relationship between New Milford police and the youth of the community.

The Junior Police Academy is open to boys and girls ages 11 to 14 years — grades six through eight — who are New Milford residents or who attend school in New Milford.

Among the highlights of this year’s academy will be trips to the U.S. Coast Guard division on Staten Island; the U.S. Military Academy at West Point; the Bergen County Police and Fire Academy and Darlington Lake; a New Jersey Jackals baseball game, the New Milford fire and EMS departments and the New Milford Swim Club.

There is a $30 fee per student, with checks payable to the New Milford Junior Police Academy.

This year’s academy will be limited to the first 75 students to sign up.

Applications will be available at the New Milford Police Department and will also be distributed to each school.
