23rd Annual Community Hymn Festival Ridgewood . Multiple Choirs Set for Annual Community Hymn Festival On Sunday, May 20, at 7:30 p.m., choirs from multiple Bergen County churches of all denominations will participate in the 23rd Annual Community Hymn Festival at Ridgewood’s West Side Presbyterian Church. The ecumenical event is open to the public. Co-sponsored by the John R. Rodland Memorial Scholarship Fund and the Northern NJ Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, over $150,000 has been awarded in scholarships to future Church musicians. Lambert Castle Museum Paterson

“The Castle,” a well-known landmark in Northern New Jersey, is located on Garret Mountain overlooking the City of Paterson. Once a private residence, the building is fashioned after an English castle.  Catholina Lambert, an English immigrant who made his fortune in the silk industry, built the Castle in 1892-93.   He named it “Belle Vista.”   Many prominent individuals of that era, including President McKinley, visited the Lambert family in their luxurious residence. Museum’s “The Civil War Years” Exhibit.

Among the many Civil War items currently on display at the Schoolhouse Museum is an engraving of the Lincoln family completed by J.C. Buttre in 1861 and printed in 1865. The engraving shows Abraham and Mary Lincoln with their three then-surviving sons: Robert, Willie, and Tad. Multi-use pathway/Bicycle-Pedestrian Path: This bike and pedestrian path travels from Ridgewood to Rochelle Park and is approximately 6 miles in length. This continuous path runs through Ridgewood, Glen Rock, Fair Lawn, Paramus, Saddle Brook and Rochelle Park and under Route 4. This path also follows the Saddle River and Ho-Ho-Kus Brook and passes by the Historic Easton Tower at Route 4. Let Mom Sleep Late on Mother’s Day 2012 While Dad Takes Kids for Fun at Kidville in Englewood .Fathers or caregivers can visit Kidville for morning gym fun and kids can make a special craft gift to take home to mom. Spots are limited, so please register in advance by sending name, number of children, a phone number and email address to rsvp.englewood@kidville.com.

This event is suited for children up to age six. A $5 cash donation is suggested per family; all donations will benefit Dress for Success.

Kidville operates large, upscale facilities, catering to young children and their families. Wishing to preserve her beloved home and give future generations the chance to experience the sights, smells, and sounds of rural life, Caroline Foster in 1979 bequeathed Fosterfields to the Morris County Park Commission, to be preserved as a “living historical farm,” the first in New Jersey. In the Swing Batting Cages : Since our beginning in 1990, Baseball and Softball have been the foundation of the In The Swing experience. Recently, our clean and modern baseball and softball area was renovated to create a more realistic batting experience. We still have the traditional coin-operated batting as before, with 6 pitching machines throwing 45mph, 55mph, 65 mph and 75 mph baseball, as well as Slow Pitch and Fastpitch Softball. Birthday Parties in our Private Party Room:
The private party room, once reserved, is for 1 hour and 30 minutes, followed by 18 holes of Monster Mini Golf. (VIP, Not So Sweet 16, Mean Teen & Private event times are different, see below.) This allows plenty of time to complete the actual birthday or party event (such as Pizza, drinks, cake and presents). Once you have completed your personal agenda, we then gather the children and / or adults for Mini Golf. Sports Squirts, ages 3-5, Mondays (morning) and Wednesdays (afternoon), beginning the week of April 16th at Veteran’s Field North

Participants will grow in this safe, structured and fun environment with particular focus on hand/eye coordination, movement, balance and special awareness. Participants will be introduced to 5 different sports during this six-week program. There are four one-hour sessions to choose from.

T-Ball, ages 3-5, Thursdays, beginning April 19th at Veteran’s Field North This class introduces boys and girls to the exciting games of baseball and softball. Instruction includes throwing, hitting, pitching, catching, base running and fielding. There are three one-hour sessions to choose from.

We are a hands-on learning and play center with over forty interactive and educational exhibits located on one floor. The museum welcomes school trips, first grade and under. Students, teachers and parents have a great time. One teacher said, “”I have truly never enjoyed a class trip as much as this one.”

School groups (first grade and under) and day care centers/nursery schools are welcome, but we do require an advance reservation and each group must provide adequate supervision. The Cooperative Nursery School of Ridgewood (the Co-op), a nonsectarian school, will hold an Open House for the 2012-2013 school year on Thursday, March 22nd from 9:30-11:30 and 12:30-2:30. The school is located at 100 Dayton Street in Ridgewood.

The Co-op offers classes for children from 1 ½ to 5 years old. Classes range from Mommy and Me to four day per week classes for 4 year olds. Kindergarten enrichment classes are also offered.
